What Early Years got up to this week in the Prep School

Reception

We have had a busy final week in Reception.  

Understanding the World     
This week we have been exploring Easter. We learnt about the Christian celebration and how people celebrate it.  

On Tuesday morning the children thoroughly enjoyed taking part in our own Farringtons Easter tradition the ‘egg rolling’ competition.  

Thank you to all the parents who were able to attend the Easter Service on Tuesday afternoon, I am sure you will agree the children looked and sang fantastically. After the service we went on an Easter hat parade, when the children got to show off their amazing hats.  

Phonics     
This week we completed phonic assessments on all children. We are very proud of how hard the children are working with their phonics. Next term we will be moving on phase 4 phonics. Whilst this doesn't include any new phonemes it will focus on longer words, and it will introduce some new ‘tricky words.’

Maths     
This week we have revisited maths taught this term by looking at true and false statements. This encourages a deeper understanding of maths. The children need to work out the answer and explain how they have done this.
