Sixth Form

Our academic provision if broad and exciting, providing a number of vocational courses to complement our full range of A level options. We work hard to support each individual to thrive academically and our small class sizes allow for close supervision and support.

Aims of our Sixth Form

  • To enable our students to achieve their academic potential
  • To develop confidence and independence
  • To develop a sense of responsibility.

One of Farringtons Sixth Form’s key strengths is its size. With around 120 students, it is large enough to offer an impressive range of subjects and allow flexibility in combining courses.

However, it is still small enough to retain a family atmosphere and provide individual attention and support, helping to ensure academic success and personal self-confidence. Small tutor groups provide close guidance throughout the two years. Take a look at our Sixth Form Courses.

There are many advantages to being part of our Sixth Form and students are given ample opportunities to contribute to the life of the School community and assume responsibility.

Sixth Formers are actively involved in decision making through the School Council and help in the running of the School through undertaking a wide variety of duties. This gives our Sixth Formers extensive contact with younger pupils and helps to maintain the strong sense of community that is characteristic of Farringtons.

Students meet with their Form Tutors on a daily basis. Form Tutors can therefore closely track academic and personal progress. We work closely with parents and students so that any difficulties are dealt with swiftly.

Our Sixth Form programme is designed to help our students develop the new skills they need to cope with study at A Level and university.

Students find they have more autonomy to organise independent study. They also enjoy participating in a wide range of activities and taking up new challenges and responsibilities.

Students have the opportunity to take on the challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and participate in Debating and Public Speaking events within and beyond the School community.
