It has been a fantastic Summer Term at Farringtons School, filled with exciting events and achievements. We are thrilled to share some of our highlights from the Prep and Senior School with you below.
EYFS Woodlands Farm TripOur Early Years pupils had a truly wonderful time during their visit to Woodlands Farm this term. It was a joy to watch their faces light up as they stepped out of the classroom and into the farmyard to meet the animals.
PRE-RECEPTION ASSEMBLYA massive well done to our amazing Pre-Reception pupils who performed brilliantly at their assembly on 19th May!
They brought so much energy and joy to the stage, and we could not be prouder of them. We hope everyone who attended enjoyed it as much as we did!
PRE-RECEPTION CHICKSOur Pre-Reception pupils have been eagerly watching their chick eggs and the wait finally ended with some very fluffy arrivals.
The children have been gentle and attentive, doing a brilliant job of helping to look after our new feathered friends.
YEAR 1 ASSEMBLYHuge congratulations to our Year 1 superstars!
They performed their assembly brilliantly for their families on 28th April. From the terrific singing that filled the Prep School hall to the incredibly clear speaking and confidence on stage, we could not be prouder!
A massive thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to support them.
YEAR 1 SPACE DAYYear 1 had an absolutely stellar time during their Space Day this term. Our budding astronauts kicked things off by getting hands-on with some squishy, sensory moon sand before heading into an astronaut boot camp.
The children produced space pictures and took to the stage for some cosmic acting performances. They finished their day by singing some space songs!
YEAR 2 HISTORY DAYOur Year 2 historians took a giant leap back to 1666 today for an unforgettable Great Fire of London immersion day! The journey began with a brilliant workshop from Freshwater Theatre, where they brought the eyewitness accounts of the fire to life.
The pupils did not just learn history; they lived it by using their ingenuity to debate the rebuilding of the city and stepping into the shoes of Thomas Farriner to bake bread with our Catering Team. From captivating drama to period-inspired art, the day was packed with creativity. This immersive experience helped our pupils understand why the Great Fire was such a significant event while building incredible teamwork and enthusiasm for the past.

After a term spent immersed in the world of the Tudors, our pupils saw history in action this week. To truly understand the impact of the Great Fire of London, they took our learning outside to recreate the events of 1666.
There was huge excitement as they watched the Tudor houses we built go up in smoke, providing a powerful (and safe!) demonstration of how quickly the timber buildings and narrow streets of the era allowed the flames to spread. It was a spectacular way to wrap up their history topic and a memorable lesson our pupils will not forget

Our Prep School pupils have been demonstrating fantastic focus and finesse in their fencing lessons this term. Beyond the excitement of the duel, fencing teaches agility, discipline and strategic thinking.
YEAR 3 HISTORY DAY – romansWhat a brilliant day for Year 3 as they delved deep into the world of the Romans. The pupils fully immersed themselves in history by mastering the complexities of Roman numerals and applying that knowledge to design their very own clocks. The creativity continued with the delicate craft of making mosaics and the day was topped off with a delicious hands-on lesson baking traditional Roman cookies.
Year 4 had a fantastic time on their residential visit to Windmill Hill. The weather was glorious and really helped everyone to enjoy the outdoor activities to the full. The children loved their sessions, which included climbing, abseiling, high-ropes, aeroball and raft building. Everyone returned to school, happy and worn out!

Our Year 4 pupils have thoroughly enjoyed swapping their usual PE lessons for golf clubs, picking up some fantastic new skills. From perfecting their stance to mastering the swing, it has been wonderful to see their focus and enthusiasm on the field. Thanks to coach Henry who came in from Chislehurst Golf Club to run the session.
Year 5 pupils recently returned from an action-packed residential trip to York. The trip offered a diverse itinerary that saw the group visit Scarborough Castle, pupils explored ancient ruins and took in sweeping views of the North Sea before transitioning to the Sea Life Centre to study marine conservation and discover the wonders of life beneath the waves.
The historical heart of the trip focused on York’s rich and multi-layered heritage. Our pupils became historians and archaeologists for the week, engaging with the city’s past through several key sites:
– DIG: Pupils took part in a hands-on archaeological experience, carefully unearthing artefacts to learn how we reconstruct the stories of those who lived centuries ago
– Barley Hall: The group stepped into the reconstructed medieval townhouse to experience the atmosphere of 15th-century life
– Jorvik Viking Centre: An immersive journey through a reconstructed Viking-age street allowed the pupils to experience the sights, sounds, and even the smells of the 10th century
YEAR 5 ESB ASSEMBLYWell done to all of our Year 5 pupils who performed their English Speaking Board exam pieces to their families this term. From expressive readings to moving poetry, the standard was truly fantastic! At Farringtons Prep School, English Speaking Board exams are a core part of our Luceat Programme, helping pupils find their voice and build lifelong confidence.
ISFA National U11 Sevens tournamentOur Year 5 and 6 footballers recently took to the pitch at the home of England Football, St George’s Park, for the ISFA National U11 Sevens tournament! The team got a true taste of the professional athlete lifestyle, staying overnight at the Hyatt Regency to prepare for the big day. We were also incredibly lucky to have ex-pupil and current Burton Albion FC player, Nick Akoto, join us for a training session the evening before to share some pro tips! The tournament was a masterclass in grit and determination:
– Game 1: A tense 0-0 draw against Dulwich College.
– Game 2: 1-1 against Berkhamsted after dominating possession.
– Game 3: Our first big win against Ludgrove!
– Game 4: A thrilling 2-1 victory over The Grange.
Going into the final match, the pupils only needed a draw to progress. Despite creating numerous chances and remaining unbeaten throughout the day, a late counterattack meant we narrowly missed out on the quarter-finals by a single goal difference. We are extremely proud of how the team performed against some of the most well-established footballing schools in the UK. We cannot wait to see what this talented group achieves as they move into the Senior School.
Special Guest Visit for Year 4 and Year 6On 27th April, Year 4 and Year 6 welcomed a special guest – Mr Langworthy, who is a battlefield tour guide.
Following their recent residential trip to France our Year 6 pupils took a deep dive into the D-Day landings and the liberation of Europe. Our Year 4 classes stepped even further back in time to explore World War I. From the complex causes of the conflict to the gritty reality of daily life in the trenches, the children were captivated by the history of those who served.
A huge thank you to Mr Langworthy for sharing his expertise and passion, and to Mr Walker for kindly sponsoring this inspiring visit.
CHAMBER CHOIR IAPS PERFORMANCEWell done to the Farringtons Prep Chamber Choir for their wonderful performances at the IAPS Festival of Singing at Benenden School’s Centenary Hall on 12th May. The choir sang beautifully both in their own performance and as part of the massed choir — a fantastic achievement and a memorable musical experience for all involved!
RUNNING CLUBRunning club had two very special visitors who joined us for Year 5 and 6 Athletics Club. Peter, a visually impaired runner and his guide, Chelsea, Mrs Crouser’s daughter. Chelsea is an ex-pupil of Farringtons and a founding member of the running club! They inspired us as they ran the Long Loop with our Year 5 and 6 pupils in preparation for the London Marathon.
MUSIC SHOWCASEOn the 20th of May, the Prep School hosted a truly wonderful Music Showcase in the Chapel. Our pupils performed beautifully for their families, filling the space with talent and dedication. From the first note to the final applause, we loved every moment of this special occasion!
Well done to all the children for such a memorable performance.
To celebrate this incredible milestone, we are thrilled to partner with Sing2Save, a nationwide singing event helping pupils across the UK raise vital funds for the next generation. Farringtons were honoured to be the chosen school to learn and record the song, which now features on Sing2Save 2026 in support of the wildlife charity Butterfly Conservation.
This year, pupils from schools across the country joined a mass singalong to support their mission. They performed the original song ‘We Can All Do Better’, a moving call to action for our environment and wildlife. The track was composed by musician Nick Drewe with lyrics by Olivier Award-winning lyricist Anthony Drewe (Mary Poppins).
CHESSThis term, our Prep School pupils competed in our first-ever chess tournament against Eaton House The Manor School! It was a fantastic morning of strategic thinking and intense focus!
A huge thank you to Wallace Chess for collaborating with us to make this milestone event possible, and congratulations to all the talented pupils who took part.

We are launching a new way to welcome prospective families through our Discovery Days, which provide an excellent opportunity to see Farringtons Prep School in action. To book, click on the button below.
FARRINGTONS GOES GREENOur wonderful Year 7 pupils have been incredibly busy this term crafting homemade fat ball bird feeders as part of their Flroeat lessons. This term, they headed out into our school woodland to hang them up and help look after our local wildlife. It is fantastic to see our pupils putting their creativity and care for the environment into action.
LIFE SAVERS EVENTThis term, our Year 8 Floreat pupils participated in an inspiring London Lifesaver Event. We are so proud of the maturity and focus they showed while learning these vital, life-saving skills.
A huge thank you to the incredible team from the London Ambulance NHS Trust for joining us. Our pupils learnt CPR and the correct use of a defibrillator
These are skills we hope they never have to use, but we are confident they now have the knowledge to step up in an emergency.
Year 9 Floreat SCUBA DIVINGYear 9 dived straight into their scuba lesson on 15th May, practising their water entry techniques with great focus and control. It is wonderful to see them mastering new skills with such confidence.
Well done to everyone involved!
Year 10 trip to lilleOn Thursday 7th May the Year 10 French GCSE pupils, along with Ms Jackson and Miss Mosqueron, visited Lille for the day. They went by Eurostar from St Pancras and had the most brilliant day. The pupils were able to see real world examples of the language they have been learning, from instructions in the Eurostar terminal to a traditional French menu. They all ate together in a beautiful brasserie in the centre of the medieval town, choosing steak-frites, tarte tatin and crème brulée. They ordered everything in French and even managed to choose their steaks à point or bien cuit!
They then climbed a tower (and did not use the lift) to get magnificent views of the city below. The pupils had a wonderful time, shopping, eating and soaking up the atmosphere. It was a long day but worth every minute. No classroom can replace using the language in its own country and they will be returning next year.
KARL NOVAWe were thrilled to welcome the incredible Karl Nova to our Senior School as part of the National Year of Reading! An award-winning poet, author and hip-hop artist, Karl brought an electric energy that truly brought literature to life.
Pupils in Years 7–9 were captivated by Karl’s journey, his rhythmic storytelling and his powerful message about the magic of words. A selected group of pupils from Years 7–10 also took part in a workshop, under Karl’s expert guidance. A huge thank you to Karl Nova for inspiring our next generation of storytellers!
DRACULAThis term, our Senior School pupils headed to the theatre for a spine-tingling performance of Dracula!
It was fantastic to see our senior pupils engaging with live performance and exploring the darker side of literature. A huge thank you to the theatre staff for a spectacular production!
TENNIS SUCCESSHuge well done to the team for their fantastic performance on the court this term against Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar School. It was great to see such high-quality tennis and sportsmanship on display.
Independent School Golf CompetitionHuge congratulations to our Senior School pupils who competed in the Independent School Golf Competition on 23rd of April!
It was a fantastic match against Eastbourne School, held at the beautiful Royal Eastbourne Golf Club. Our golfers showed impressive skill, sportsmanship, and focus throughout the day.
Well done to everyone who took part and represented the school so brilliantly!
DANCE RESIDENTIAL27 of our talented dancers enjoyed their epic residential dance experience! From technical masterclasses to West End wonders, here is the highlights:
Pineapple Dance Studios: Two incredible workshops—a fluid Lyrical class and a high-energy commercial session.
Starlight Express: The group was blown away by the speed and skill of this world-class musical on skates!
London: Dinner at Pizza Express, a stay in Euston, and some well-earned retail therapy in Covent Garden.
Everyone headed home full of joy and inspiration.
UNICEF in support of World Malaria Awareness DayThis term, our Senior School went blue for UNICEF in support of World Malaria Awareness Day! It was a fantastic day of community spirit, all focused on raising vital funds for UNICEF’s mission to provide life-saving malaria vaccines to children globally.
The highlights of the day included: A sea of blue across the school as pupils ditched their uniforms to show solidarity, at lunchtime pupils put their detective skills to the test to guess the teacher from their childhood photos! As well as a sweet sale at break time that sold out in record time.
A huge well done and thank you to everyone who participated!
FLOREAT BEE KEEPINGWe had an exciting week at Farringtons Senior School this term! One of our beehives decided to swarm, but thanks to the quick action of our Floreat beekeeping teacher, they were successfully caught and we now have three thriving hives on site.

Pupils have thrown themselves whole-heartedly into some fantastic outdoor challenges, including a brilliantly tense and competitive penalty shoot-out. This was followed by the highly entertaining welly wanging competition, where pupils displayed some surprisingly impressive technique and immense house pride!
The excitement does not stop on the sports field. We have been absolutely delighted by the fantastic response to our upcoming Public Speaking Competition. An impressive number of pupils in Years 7 and 8 have signed up to take part. We cannot wait to hear them showcase their talents during the preliminary rounds, which will take place just after half term.

A heartfelt thank you to our Year 13 prefects for their incredible contributions throughout the year! We loved hosting them for a thank you barbeque on 6th May. Huge thanks as well to our wonderful Catering Team for the mouth-watering lunch!
On Friday 1st May, we officially waved goodbye to our incredible Year 11 pupils as they headed off for study leave. It was a morning filled with laughter and plenty of ink as everyone gathered for a celebratory breakfast and the time-honoured tradition of shirt signing.
We are so proud of the hard work you have put in to get to this point. Wishing every single one of you the very best of luck in your upcoming exams—stay focused, stay confident and remember that you have got this!
This term has been a busy and rewarding one for our Duke of Edinburgh participants, with all three award levels successfully completing their practice expeditions. Each group faced their own unique challenges, and it has been fantastic to see how our pupils have risen to the occasion with determination, resilience, and teamwork.
Gold Expedition – Yorkshire Dales
Our Gold students travelled to the stunning Yorkshire Dales for their practice expedition. Despite some cold nights, they were fortunate to experience plenty of spring sunshine during the day, making for excellent walking conditions and breathtaking views. The group navigated varied terrain and demonstrated strong independence and leadership throughout. All students coped brilliantly with the demands of the expedition, supporting one another and maintaining a positive attitude from start to finish. Their performance has put them in a strong position as they prepare for their qualifying expedition.
Silver Expedition – Midhurst & South Downs
The Silver group took on their practice expedition in the Midhurst and South Downs area. While the route offered beautiful countryside, the weather added an extra layer of challenge, with rain making its presence felt. This led to quieter evenings than expected, as students opted for some well-earned rest after their walks. Despite the conditions, the group completed their expedition successfully, showing resilience and good teamwork. Their navigation skills and campcraft continue to improve, and they gained valuable experience in dealing with less favourable weather.
Bronze Expedition – Local Routes
Our Bronze participants completed their practice expedition closer to home, encountering a few moments of “added excitement” along the way. These experiences provided excellent learning opportunities, helping pupils understand the importance of careful planning, communication, and attention to detail. With just a few reminders and refinements, the group will be in a strong position to tackle their qualifying expedition at the start of June.
Overall, it has been incredibly pleasing to see the enthusiasm and progress across all levels of the award. Well done to every pupil involved—you have represented the school excellently. We look forward to seeing the Bronze and Silver groups build on this experience, and to supporting our Gold participants as they take their final steps towards completing this prestigious award.

We are so proud of our Sixth Form students who were recently invited to the Bromley Rotary Club at The Warren! Alisha (Year 13) shared her thoughts on the experience:
“My time at the Bromley Rotary Club was an enjoyable experience. It was lovely to spend the evening talking with people from different generations and hearing their stories and perspectives. The dinner was great, but what stood out most was that the conversations were genuinely engaging and insightful. It was a memorable evening, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to be part of it.”
A huge thank you to the Rotary Club for their warm hospitality and for providing such a welcoming platform for our students. These connections are what make our community so special!
Our Sixth Form students swapped the classroom for the Big Apple this half term and what a trip it was! From the powerful history at the Statue of Liberty to leafy Central Park, our students truly made the most of every New York minute.
On Friday 8th May, we shared a truly special day as we wished the best of luck to our Year 13 pupils as they officially embarked on their study leave. The morning began with a moving Chapel service attended by pupils and their families, providing a wonderful moment of reflection for everyone involved.
Following the service, the year group gathered for the long-standing tradition of shirt signing, capturing memories and messages from friends and staff. To round off the celebrations, everyone enjoyed a fantastic BBQ in their film fancy dress costumes on the school lawns. We are so proud of everything this year group has achieved and wish them every success in their upcoming exams. Good luck, Year 13!
A massive well done to all our Senior School pupils who performed at our Dance Showcase! We were incredibly impressed with the talent, dedication and energy every dancer brought to the stage. It was a spectacular evening of choreography and skill.
Saturday Night at the MoviesOur students headed out to the cinema for a screening of the new Michael Jackson biopic. There is nothing quite like the magic of the big screen to bring our students together for some weekend fun.
