MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
This week, the Prep School was transformed into a tactical battleground—though the only things being defeated were delicious, nutritious vegetables!
As part of the nationwide Eat Them To Defeat Them initiative, our pupils have been on a mission to conquer the “veg invasion” by putting their taste buds to the ultimate test. The campaign aims to make healthy eating an adventure, encouraging children to try new vegetables in fun and unexpected ways.
Breaktime tastings
Our incredible Catering Team rose to the challenge, crafting a secret weapon: a menu of snacks that were as tasty as they were healthy. Throughout the week, the break time spread included:
- Beetroot brownies:Â A rich, chocolatey treat with a hidden earthy punch
- Courgette, apple & banana cake:Â A triple-threat of sweetness and texture
- Apple & carrot Greek yoghurt mini muffins: Perfectly fluffy and packed with nutrients
- Cheesy carrot bites:Â Savoury, crunchy, and a massive hit with all year groups
- Carrot & pepper sticks:Â The classic crunch for the veggie-eating purists
Stickers of success
For every new snack tried, pupils were awarded official stickers to mark their bravery and progress. It has been wonderful to see the children encouraging one another to take a bite and “defeat” the vegetables on their plates.
By turning healthy eating into a shared mission, we have seen even our most hesitant eaters diving into beetroot and courgette with smiles on their faces.
“It has been fantastic to see the pupils so engaged with their food. The goal is to prove that vegetables are not just ‘good for you’—they are delicious and versatile” — The Farringtons Catering Manager

Well done to all our Prep School warriors for a successful week of healthy eating!
