PRE-RECEPTION
It has been a pleasure to welcome the children into our Pre-Reception class this week! They have been very engaged in their activities and have enjoyed taking part in their specialist lessons.
We will be conducting our baseline assessments over the course of the next few weeks. The children will take part in lots of different activities, led by the adults. These assessments help us to find out what the children already know and can do. We can then use our findings to plan activities for the children.
RECEPTION
What a fantastic first week we have had! The children have settled beautifully into their daily routines and have already shown great enthusiasm for learning. To start the term, we have been getting to know our classroom environment, learning our expectations and enjoying opportunities to explore both our indoor and outdoor learning spaces.
Alongside this, we have also been focusing on the children’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development through the wonderful stories Owl Babies by Martin Waddell and The Colour Monster by Anna Llenas, which has quickly become a class favourite. Through these texts, we have supported valuable discussions about feelings, friendships, and settling into school.
On Wednesday, we visited Chapel for the first time. We were incredibly impressed by how attentively the children sat and listened. It was a fantastic start and they represented the class wonderfully.
In addition to our classroom activities, the children also enjoyed their first specialist lessons in Music, French and PD. They approached each session with great enthusiasm and curiosity. Music proved particularly popular, and the children have already begun learning the harvest song, which they thoroughly enjoyed singing together.
Finally. this afternoon, the children thoroughly enjoyed their first Forest School session. The children had a wonderful time exploring and learning outdoors.
