PRE-RECEPTION
It has been a pleasure to welcome the children into our Pre-Reception class this week! They have been very engaged in their activities and have settled well.
Over the course of the next week, you should receive an email inviting you to follow our Tapestry account. Tapestry is an online journal that we use to communicate our school week with parents. If you do not receive an email, please do let us know.
Our topic this term is Ourselves and we would appreciate you either uploading a photograph to the Tapestry platform or sending in a photograph of your child with a favourite toy. This will be used as a prop for your child to use to talk about themselves.
We would also welcome photographs of your families for our home corner. The children love recognising themselves and their families in photographs in the school setting. They can also be used as a stimulus for encouraging the children to develop their communication and language skills.
We will be conducting our baseline assessments over the course of the next two weeks. The children will take part in lots of different activities, led by the adults. These assessments help us to find out what the children already know and can do. We can then use our findings to plan activities for the children.
RECEPTION
We have had a fantastic start to the term with all children settling in wonderfully. Over the past few days, the children have been familiarising themselves with our classroom and school. The children have enjoyed exploring different activities during ‘choosing time’ as well as listening to stories and sharing their thoughts during carpet time.
On Thursday we attended our first whole school assembly where we discussed that here at Farringtons, everybody can be somebody. This prompted a classroom discussion about what jobs the children wanted to do when they were bigger.
As a class we discussed and made class rules linked to British values.
On Friday we took the opportunity to enjoy the nice weather and explored the wider school environment.
Over the next few weeks, we will be conducting our baseline assessment. The children will take part in lots of different activities, led by adults. These activities help us to find what the children already know and can do. We can then use our finding to help plan future work and activities.
