At Farringtons Prep School, we believe that reading is fundamental to a child’s success. That’s why we’ve chosen the Little Wandle Reading Scheme as the foundation of our literacy curriculum.
What is Little Wandle?
Little Wandle is a systematic synthetic phonics program that provides a structured and engaging approach to teaching children to read and write. It focuses on:
- Phonics: Children learn to decode words by understanding the relationship between sounds and letters
- Phonological awareness: Children develop an understanding of the sounds in spoken language
- Reading fluency: Children practice reading accurately, smoothly, and with expression
- Comprehension: Children learn to understand and interpret what they read
