PRE-RECEPTION
We have had a busy week in Pre-Reception!
The children were outstanding in our Twinkly Nativity this week! They also enjoyed choosing gifts for their loved ones at the Christmas gift shop.
MATHS
We played lots of fun games in Maths to consolidate the children’s learning of repeating patterns and subitising.
PHONICS
In Phonics, we have taught the children to recognise the ‘n’ phoneme (sound) and to pronounce this correctly. We have taught the children ‘Open your lips a bit; put your tongue behind your teeth and make the nnnnn sound.’
RECEPTION
It has been a fun, glitter filled week in Reception.
Literacy
This week we have been learning about winter. We discussed what happens to the trees, weather and what people celebrate during winter. We also explored how Christmas is celebrated by different people.
Maths
We have been consolidating our Maths knowledge from this term. This has included one more and one less, missing numbers and addition. We also explored sequencing, thinking about what comes first, next and last in everyday activities like brushing our teeth. We also revisited length and height, making a special keepsake bauble.
Expressive arts and design
It has been a very busy week in our creative area. We have been making Christmas trees from clay, Christmas cards and a special decoration to put on the Christmas tree.
Phonics
As well as completing phonic assessments we focused on words with s added at the end (hats / sits). Words ending in s and z (his and buzz). We also revisited all tricky words we have learnt this term and practised writing sentences such as ‘She has six ducks.’
