Farringtons Junior School was congratulated by the London Mayor for its green credentials at an Environmental Awards Ceremony.
Farringtons received an award for environmental excellence at the 2008 London Schools Award held at City Hall on July 10.
The awards, set up in 2003 to develop children's sense of responsibility for their environment, are open to pupils in nursery and primary schools in the capital.
Now in their fifth year, more than 580 schools from across London's 33 boroughs registered for this year's awards.
Farringtons Junior School claimed the Highly Commended Award and a cash prize of £1000 for its environmental day, which featured activities such as gardening, litter picking and poetry writing.
London Mayor Boris Johnson presented the awards and congratulated everyone on their excellent work. Mr Johnson said 'There has been a wonderful response to this year's London School Environment awards and the enthusiasm shown by the young green champions in Bromley in really encouraging. Not only have they set a great example to all Londoners, young and old, they have, thanks to their parents and teachers, learnt at a young age the importance of caring for their environment'.
Congratulations to all the staff and pupils in the Junior School for this fantastic achievement.
