YEAR 6 VISIT THE ISLE OF WIGHT

On Sunday 18th March, Year 6 went on a trip to the Isle of Wight, where we had a super time!

Once we arrived at Kingswood we had a site tour so we knew where everything was. Group H started off with parachute games followed by Scrap Heap Challenge in the evening. We had to bid for scrap so we could secure a water balloon safely inside the scrap whilst one of the instructors kicked it to see if it would survive. We had a very busy week and took part in a wide range of activities including:

• Zip Wire was brilliant!! Once you got harnessed up and had the safety talk you were ready to do it. You climbed up to the top of the tower where an instructor met you at the top and attached ropes to you. You then jumped off the edge and went flying across the air on a rope, it was an amazing experience.

• Nightline, was fantastic. We went on a mystery walk where we were blindfolded and holding on to the person in front of us, climbing over rocks and through tyres, also getting stuck in the mud!

• We went to Black Gang (a beach). They sat us down for a chat as a class and a man talked to us about how to identify fossils. Then we went down to the beach and found lots of colourful quartz and imprints of fossils and real fossils themselves! We saw real dinosaur foot prints!

• “Finding Fin a new home”. We went down to a river and took tests to see if the river was suitable for Fin to live in which it was! After that we went abseiling and a follow up on Finding Fin a new home on the PC.

• Quad bikes and orienteering (if you don’t know what that it is, it’s a bit like a treasure hunt) which was brilliant.

We would like to say a massive thanks to Mr Dutton, Mrs Munro and Miss Wiseman for taking us on this wonderful trip!
