BFI tripBFI TRIP

I found the KS3 trip to the British Film Institute for their German Culture and Identity Day really fun because I found it very interactive. Es war sehr gut! The first section was filled with questions that we could all answer and James was brave enough to volunteer an answer in front of the whole auditorium.

There were four films which covered the themes of: heritage, family, language, history and culture. The films were ‘Der Ganz Grosse Traum’, ‘Almanya’, ‘Contra’ and the full length feature film ‘Berlin ’36’ about the Berlin Olympics. We also studied an advert which challenged cultural stereotypes about Germany and the Germans. We were given a support booklet containing lots of useful vocabulary which helped us answer the questions.

Overall, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and we hope to go on another trip like this in the future.
