ACADEMIC LIFE
What is the Floreat Programme?
The Floreat Programme is the Senior School’s bespoke co-curricular framework designed to provide a holistic education integrated directly into the standard school day. Taking its name from the Latin Floreat, meaning “to thrive,” the programme focuses on personal growth, character development, and academic enrichment alongside traditional studies.
What is the Luceat Programme?
The Luceat Programme, meaning “to shine,” is designed to extend education beyond the classroom by nurturing curiosity, independence, and vital life skills in our Prep pupils. From riding a bike in Pre-Reception to taking English Speaking Board exams in Year 3 and leadership roles in Year 6, it provides every child with practical experiences to help them thrive.
What subjects can my child study at GCSE?
Subjects offered include Art, Dance, Drama, English, Food & Nutrition, Geography, Graphic Communication, History, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Photography, Religious Studies and Science. They can also study Business (BTEC Level Two), Digital Media (OCR Level 3 Extended Certificate) and Creative iMedia (Level 2 Cambridge National).
How does Farringtons support careers and university choices?

EARLY YEARS AND PREP
From what age can my child join Farringtons Prep School?
From September 2026, Farringtons welcomes children from age 2.5; from September 2027, from age 2. Little Farringtons Stay & Play sessions let you and your child experience the setting before applying.
What does a typical day look like in Early Years?
Days combine structured early literacy and Maths Mastery activities with outdoor learning across our 25-acre site, plus specialist Music, PE, Computing and Languages sessions.
How does Farringtons help children become independent?
Independence is developed through everyday opportunities: managing belongings, putting on coats and shoes, using cutlery and learning to complete practical tasks with increasing confidence.
Adults support children to attempt things for themselves, ask for help when needed and take pride in what they can do. These foundations prepare them for greater responsibility as they move through Prep School.
Does attending Early Years guarantee a Reception place?
No. Progression to Reception is reviewed during Pre-Reception and depends on the school confirming that it can provide the right next stage for the child. The Admissions Team will explain the review process and offer terms before a family accepts an Early Years place.
BOARDING
What boarding options does Farringtons offer?
Full boarding and weekly boarding are both available, based in Wyvern House, our mixed boarding house launched in September 2025.

Yes, day pupils and boarders share lessons, clubs and school life, with weekend activities, trips and outings open to all boarders.
PASTORAL CARE
What pastoral support is in place for my child?
Every pupil has a Form Tutor, and support is also available from the Chaplain, School Nurse, School Counsellor and, for boarders, the Head of Boarding and House staff, all working closely with parents.
