Our intrepid Senior School PADI-qualified Floreat Programme divers had an incredible scuba diving trip to Egypt in the summer holidays! These amazing pupils explored the vibrant coral reefs and fascinating marine life of the Red Sea, all while putting their diving skills to the test.
Beyond the breath-taking underwater world, they also had the chance to experience the rich culture and history of Egypt, creating unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.
On the 4th July 13 students and 4 teachers travelled to Egypt for the best school trip ever!
On this trip, we completed an Advanced Open Water dive course and an Enriched Air Nitrox course. This means we can use a different gas mix in our tanks, allowing us to dive longer while absorbing less nitrogen. For the Advanced Open Water certification, we had to complete five training dives: Drift, Boat, Deep, Navigation and Peak Performance Buoyancy. In addition to these training dives, we did four recreational dives, including a wreck dive that allowed us to explore a shipwreck.
Completing this advanced course has enabled us to dive down to 30 meters, giving us the opportunity to see more of the ocean and its diverse marine life. Most days, we did at least three dives—one training dive focused on skills needed to pass the course and two recreational dives. During these dives, we encountered stunning coral and a variety of fish, including a green sea turtle, a titan triggerfish, and a barracuda.
On the last day, we did a wreck dive, where we swam around a shipwreck and a crane that had sunk while attempting to offload cargo. When we weren’t diving, we had the option to explore the town and shop. On our final night, we went out for dinner, which was a great way to end the trip.
I had an amazing time and am thrilled to have earned my Advanced Scuba license. Now I can dive all over the world! – Harrison – Year 13
