Senior School Overview

The Farringtons curriculum has been developed to encourage a love of learning. Inspirational teaching and small class sizes enable pupils to build their confidence and develop the knowledge, skills and experience they need when it comes to their GCSE and A Level options.

This broad foundation features traditionally academic subjects alongside sporting, creative and performing arts, and technology-based opportunities.

A vibrant and diverse choice of exam qualifications at GCSE level and in our Sixth Form allows pupils to specialise in the areas in which they excel, no matter how high their level of achievement or potential may be.

We are proud of our strong academic record whilst recognising that, in school, “as it should be”, students are afforded the opportunity to develop many talents and to shine.

All that we do at Farringtons School is focussed on great learning and teaching. We provide opportunities for students to test themselves across a variety of contexts and view education as a valuable end in itself, not merely the acquisition of qualifications.

We aim to equip our students with the necessary knowledge, skills and experiences to lead a fulfilling life, through entry to the country’s leading universities or into the world of work.

Character education is as important as gaining academic qualifications and our curriculum is tailored to our students’ diverse and individual needs. We prepare young people for the future through a curriculum that contributes directly to exam success and intellectual curiosity.

Our curriculum equally encompasses all of the sporting, artistic, technological and creative endeavours that promote students’ wellbeing as well as their moral, spiritual and social growth. It is a formula that has worked well for over a hundred years.

Inspirational teaching that meets the needs of our young people takes place in enviably small class sizes, delivered by truly passionate teachers who understand how young people develop and learn at each stage of their lives.

Freedom from the constraints of the National Curriculum means that the Farringtons curriculum is bespoke and made for our students. Our offering is both wide-ranging yet balanced in the lower school, providing the foundation for students to enjoy a vibrant and diverse range of qualifications at GCSE and A Level.

Progress is monitored with precision and feedback is regular and specific for both students and their parents, providing a clear picture of how to improve and reach their fullest potential.
