Admission Procedure for the Junior School
Entry to Pre-Reception is based on individual "taster" session(s) of an hour's duration; allowing a young child to become accustomed to his / her new surroundings, the staff and other pupils in the class. Entry to Reception is based on a 20 - 30 minute assessment carried out by a member of the Key Stage 1 staff. These assessments are usually undertaken in January of each year. Most often groups of 2 - 5 children are assessed simultaneously. Entry to other classes within the Junior School is based upon an assessment being made during a day spent with the pupil's year group. Parents and their children will also meet with the Headmistress. There is no formal test at Junior School level. Students applying from overseas who are unable to join the Farringtons for a day, may be asked to complete assessment papers in their current school.
