After several weeks, including prior to Christmas, of our pupils studying on-line we are delighted with how well they are engaging with their academic studies and continuing to make good progress under the most trying of circumstances. We are very proud of them! However, we are acutely aware of the impact of too much screen time and too little creative and physical activity. With this in mind we are launching, next Friday 29^th, “Feel Good Friday”! Initially for Years 7 & 8 (with other year groups to follow after Half Term if required) the day will be an off-timetable opportunity for us to stretch the pupils’ minds as well as bodies. In preparation for the day Years 7 & 8 will be presented with a range of activities, prepared by our Head of Creative and Performing Arts and Director of Sports, from which they will choose 3 to complete and submit in various forms via TEAMS. The activities will be published early next week to give them and you time to organise any materials. The activities will cater for all tastes, from baking to yoga. We will be recommending that the pupils roughly divide their day into three parts: two in the morning with a break and one in the afternoon post-lunch. It is also our hope that the vast majority of these activities, if not all, can be completed entirely independently of parental supervision; we are acutely aware that you will be busy with your own responsibilities. If, however, you are looking for an excuse to enhance your own wellbeing and take part in more mindful activities then please do feel free to join in too! This is a very important day for the pupils and we thank you, in advance, for your support in encouraging your son or daughter to really engage with the principle and practical elements; to turn the computer off, put their phone away and let their mind and body enjoy some quality time.
