

11+ Academic Scholarships
Academic Scholarships are awarded at age 11 to girls who show the greatest academic potential in the School’s own entrance examination and scholarship papers.
Sixth Form Scholarships
Sixth Form Academic Scholarships are awarded to students who show the greatest academic potential and perform well in their GCSE examinations.
Stratford House Award
This Award is made by the Governors to a Year 11 Farringtons student committed to staying on into the Sixth Form and who has shown a significant contribution to school life.
Exhibition Awards
Other Exhibition Awards may be made at the Head’s discretion to students who show outstanding aptitude and achievement in specific areas of the School curriculum or School life.
What is expected of an Academic Scholar?
Scholars are expected to involve themselves fully in all aspects of School life by:
- Adopting a scholarly attitude towards all curriculum subjects
- Setting an example to other students
- Attending and participating in activities and events that enhance their education
- Assisting during Open Mornings
- Contributing towards the School Newsletter
- Entering competitions and keeping the School informed about future ideas and
plans for study
All Scholarship and Exhibition Awards are reviewed annually and providing all of the above is undertaken and academic progress is satisfactory, Scholars can expect school fee remission until the end of their Sixth Form studies.
Music Scholarship
The Music Block houses seven practice rooms, (all of which are furnished with pianos), together with the teaching room and is mainly used for individual music tuition and practice sessions.
Students can participate in music at Farringtons in many different ways; singing in the choir; playing in the orchestra; entering inter-house competitions.
We also encourage our music students to perform regularly in Chapel, concerts and various musical events.
What is expected of a Music Scholar?
Music Scholars are expected to involve themselves fully in the musical life of the School by:
- Attending and performing in concerts and special events
- Playing and assisting during Open Mornings
- Assisting with Junior and Senior Clubs at lunchtime and after school
- Attending all rehearsals as requested
- Being willing to help Music Teachers with work behind the scenes
- Contributing willingly towards all aspects of the Music Department
- Contributing towards the School Newsletter
- Working hard and being organised in all music and academic studies
Exhibitions
Exhibition Awards may be given at the Head’s discretion to girls who show
outstanding ability and commitment to School music as detailed above.
All Scholarship and Exhibition Awards are reviewed annually and providing all of the above is undertaken and academic progress is satisfactory, Scholars can expect school fee remission until the end of their Sixth Form studies.
Sports Scholarship
Although close to London, Farringtons is fortunate to have 25 acres of land. Such space permits a hockey pitch, 4 netball courts and a cross-country track as well as an outdoor heated swimming pool, all on site. In addition there is a vast Sports Hall. This two-storey building provides space for a mirrored dance studio with sprung wooden floor and a fitness room (for use by Year 10 and above).
What is expected of a Sports Scholar?
Sports Scholars are expected to involve themselves fully in the sporting life of the School by:
- Being a talented, all rounder
- Leading by example
- Contributing willingly towards all aspects of the PE & Sports Department
- Attending and assisting in sports events and activities
- Assisting during Open Mornings
- Being willing to help Sports
- Teachers with work behind the scenes
- Contributing towards the School
- Newsletter
Exhibitions
Exhibition Awards may be given at the Head’s discretion to girls who show
outstanding ability and commitment to School sport as detailed above.
