English in Year 8

English in Year 8 is really good. It is so much better than in Year 7! You now know all your teachers so you don’t need to feel so nervous around them when you give your opinions. You also get more say in the things that you are going to study and how you are going to study them.

You get to do heaps of stuff in Year 8 when it comes to English - you read some Shakespeare, produce a project on him and do another project on poetry. The class also reads another book altogether and you do some material on that as well.

When you start to read a play by Shakespeare it is so funny when you all start to try and work out what he is trying to say. You also get to act some of the parts of the play which is hilarious!

The poetry project that you do is also quite interesting. When I did it I never even realised that there were so many different types of poems.

Now the best part of English: the games! They are brilliant. The pages and pages of all the little games in the back of your book are the things that make English great! They make English truly fun.
