BUSINESS STUDIES
The Business Studies Department at Farringtons gives girls a chance to learn about the world outside the classroom.
The subject has proved extremely popular as both a GCSE and A Level choice with an increasing number of girls selecting to study it.
Our 2007 Head Girl, Sian Turner, gained the top mark in the AQA Business Studies GCSE out of 58,398 examination candidates and says 'I really enjoyed Business Studies, but I never thought that I would be top in the country”.

In the Sixth Form, students an examination in January in both the Lower and Upper Sixth. This reduces the work load for the summer examinations and helps to maximise the marks students achieve.
Coursework is compiled for both GCSE and A Level. Girls set up small business ventures and research all aspects of running their chosen business from finance to marketing, employment, health and safety, technology and environmental/
ethical issues. Whilst some do make a loss on paper, others anticipate substantial profits and both learn a lot about business.
In recent years a large number of girls have gone on to further education in business related subjects. In our Upper Sixth, all girls studying the subject at A Level are hoping to study some aspect of Business Studies at university.
