

Admissions & Scholarships
Admissions Procedure
Applications are welcome at any stage during your child's education with main entry points Pre-Reception (3-4), Reception (age 4-5), Year 7 (11+), Year 10 (14+) and Sixth Form (16+).
Junior School
Entry to the Junior School is based upon an assessment being made during up to a day spent with the pupil's year group. Parents and their children will also meet with the Head of the Junior School. There is no formal test at this level. Students applying from overseas who are unable to join Farringtons for a day, may be asked to complete assessment papers in their current school.
Senior School
Entry to the Senior School is via the Entrance Examination. This is held in December, preceding the September of entry. Prospective students and their parents/guardians are invited for an interview with the Headmistress. Confirmation of a Year 7 place will be sent in the February preceding the September of entry into the Senior School. Should test results show that transfer to Year 7 would not be appropriate for any candidate for whatever reason, then parents will also be notified at this time. Appropriate consultation will have taken place with parents prior to this, where necessary.
Other Years
Entrance papers, appropriate to the year of entry are sat by the girls wishing to join the Senior School (apart from Sixth Form) together with an interview with the Headmistress. These papers are taken at Farringtons, but may exceptionally, be taken at a girls current school with their agreement.
Sixth Form
Sixth Form entry requires a minimum of 5 GCSE passes grade A* - C, usually with a grade A or B in the subjects to be studied at Advanced Level. There will also be an interview with the Headmistress. External candidates wishing to study Mathematics may be required to take an examination.
Registration
A Registration Form is included at the back of our printed prospectus, which is available on request from our Registrar on 020 8467 0256 or requesting one online which can be accessed by clicking here.
Registrations may be made at any time, usually following a visit to the relevant sections of the school. Receipt of a completed Registration Form and fee is required prior to a child spending a trial day in the Junior School and prior to the Senior School entrance examination being taken.
The Registration Fee is non-refundable.
Scholarships
Year 7 Academic Scholarships
Farringtons School is pleased to offer up to three substantial scholarships each year for students entering the first year of our Senior School (Year 7). The value of the Scholarship is upto 1 term’s fees per annum. Each is indexed linked to any change in fee levels and is subject to regular review.
In the case of all Year 7 Scholarships, the awards are based upon academic performance in the Entrance Examination held at Farringtons.
Candidates must be under 11 years of age on 1 September of the academic year in which they take the examination.
In addition to the academic scholarships there are three additional scholarships for girls who show a particular talent, potential or commitment in a particular area, e.g sport, music or art.
Sixth Form Academic Scholarships
There are three academic Scholarships available each year, two for girls currently studying in our own Year 11 and one for girls wishing to join us from other schools.
Scholarships awarded are based upon academic performance to date, teacher’s recommendations and predicted grades for GCSEs, together with the results of an interview with the Headmistress.
Stratford House Award
This Scholarship is awarded to a Farringtons Year 11 student committed to staying on into the Sixth Form. Students applying for this award will be required to write an essay (set on a subject of general interest) and attend an interview (on school premises). The successful candidate is chosen by a small group, consisting of members of the Governing Body. The award is one term’s fees for each of the two years.
How to Apply For a Scholarship
A Scholarship Application form should be completed, available from the Registrar.
External Candidates will need to complete a Registration Form and submit the £50 registration fee.
