All intelligent young people love to question perceived values and knowledge and have their voices heard.

Farringtons are committed to providing opportunities for pupils to take part in internal and external competitions. Entry for external competitions is fierce and often success in House Competitions opens up such opportunities. This year we have pupils entering ESU Mace Debate; Debating Matters, Oxford School’s Debate, Rotary Youth Speaks and ESU Churchill Public Speaking. Other cross-curricular competitions include ESU Performing Shakespeare, Citizenship Foundation’s Mock Magistrates Trial and Haileybury Mock United Nations conference.

Public Speaking

All Key Stage 3 pupils are invited to take part in our popular individual and group House Pubic Speaking Competitions. Recent external success includes Kent Districts Winners Senior Youth Speaks 2015 (with Best Chair – William Webster), Kent Districts Runners-Up Intermediate Youth Speaks 2015 (with best Speaker – Amy Newing).

Younger pupils are encouraged to take part in Debating as part of the taught curriculum in English and may be invited to take part in external competitions. Recent external success includes our Sixth Form Team’s progression to the Inner London final of Debating Matters in 2015.
