'I love it here and always want to stay here.' Year 4 pupil

A very warm welcome to Farringtons Junior School. I hope that this website gives you a flavour of what we have on offer.
Girls and boys can enter the Junior School Pre-Reception from three years old. We have two parallel classes from Reception to Year Six, and we have children joining the school throughout the academic year. At Farringtons Junior School, we pride ourselves on having an integrated community of pupils, parents and teachers who help to create a close, secure and happy environment.
Class sizes are small so that all pupils receive the individual support and encouragement that they need at this early age. Our teaching, based upon the National Curriculum, is a successful mix of traditional and progressive approaches. As children move through the years, they benefit from a greater input from specialist teachers, and are given opportunities to gain in confidence by participating in a wide range of activities.
We work in close partnership with parents, to ensure that effective channels of communication are always open. Each pupil has a parent contact book, which is looked at by their Form Teacher on a daily basis. We have numerous social and more formal evenings for parents over the course of the year, which provide opportunities for parents to discuss school matters, and to check on the progress of their children. Parents are also always welcome to arrange an appointment to pop into school for a chat with their child's Form Teacher or to set up a meeting with the Deputy Head to talk about any aspect of their child's education.
The Junior School places its own emphasis on community responsibility by encouraging pupils to support and be of service to one another. This approach produces confident, self-reliant and happy children, prepared for their next step along the educational ladder. At the end of Year Six, most of our children will go into the Senior School, and we work hard to ensure that this is a very smooth transition.
