EVEN MORE SUCCESS IN MATHS CHALLENGES
Intermediate Contest
Students from years 9 – 11 took part in the Intermediate Challenge in February. Results were astonishingly good. There were:-
2 Golds – Sherry Zhang and Barbara Acqua Ofori,
1 Silver – Hannah Rackliffe, and
12 Bronze awards – Jojo Jiang, Arike Salami, Laura Catherall, Sian Turner, April Bentley, Parmida Imani, Dorinda Li, Ting Ting Yu, Jessica Spicer, Miranda Gatward, and from year 9, Derrina Jebb and Li Zhang.
Senior Contest: In November 9 sixth form students entered the United Kingdom Senior Maths Challenge. Of those nine, 5 were awarded certificates. Ellen Yu achieved a Gold award, after gaining a Bronze award last year. Winnie Zhou added a second Silver award to her collection. Three girls from the Lower Sixth, on their first experience of a competition like this, gained bronze certificates. Well done to all of them.
This is an excellent achievement for a small school like Farringtons. We are delighted with their performance.
One pupil deserves a special mention. Sherry Zhang’s score of 95 was so high that she was placed in the top 400 out of 190 000 entries nationwide. She has been selected to enter for the Olympiad contest on 17th March. Watch this space to see how Sherry got on!
