The Carbon Challenge Roadshow comes to Farringtons
On Thursday 28 February, Farringtons played host to a young dynamic team who are part of the Enterprising Science programme.  Years 9, 10 and 11 all spent part of the day actively involved in developing ideas for a fictional school to reduce their carbon footprint. Different groups looked at the economic, environmental and social aspects of making significant changes to the school’s planning for the future. There were some excellent presentations which we shall all cherish! Significantly, some of the ideas that were aired we hope to put into practice at Farringtons. For me personally, the most significant part of the programme involved the opinions of our own students.  At the beginning they were asked about their own knowledge and what they thought they could do about climate change. The same questions were repeated at the end of the session and the increase in purpose and optimism was very encouraging.  The future generation have much to do and care for and I am pleased that our students are up to the challenge. Year 10 assure me that some families have already been encouraged by their offspring to adopt more energy saving practices!
