Congratulations to Emma Hartill, Ailar Hashemzadeh, Sahar Khan and April Bentley on their recent performances in the first round of the English Speaking Union Schools’ Mace Debating Competition, hosted at Farringtons.

Emma and Ailar opposed the motion on school leavers giving a year of service to the state, and Sahar and April debated on universities lifting the cap on fees they can charge for tuition.

All the debates during the evening were lively and fiercely argued.

Our teams did very well to achieve third position and will be a reserve for the next round.
