'I am really looking forward to the geography field trip to Iceland with all my friends.' Year 10 pupil

In February, Year 4 went on School Journey to the Arethusa Venture Centre, near Rochester. Here are a few of the many activities which they enjoyed.”
Trust Games
On Wednesday, after lunch, Group C did trust games. The first little thing we had to do was put a ball on a cone while we were each holding one or two bits of string. The people who were holding the string couldn’t talk and the person guided us to a different cone where we had to place the ball.
After that we had five flats and we had to pretend to go across a river, but if you fell in, you had to go back. Simon sometimes carried us back onto the floats.
Next we climbed onto three tyres and we took it in turns to fall back. Everybody else was positioned to catch us. If they dropped us we would fall on a mat. We dropped quite a few people like Oliver and Holly – ouch!
Miss Kilgallon said that she was glad she wasn’t in our group!

Rochester Castle and the Monks’ Experience
On Tuesday morning, Year 4 went to Rochester Castle. We had to climb lots of steps, we went right to the top. I saw some pigeons. I was also very sad because one was dead. The last thing we went to see was the toilet they used when the casle was built. Simon said he might leave us there, but he didn’t. After that we went to the shop and I bought a flash pen and a rubber.
Earlier on Tuesday morning we went to the Cathedral. Inside, a lady showed us around. Then we went to the crypt. We had to dress up as monks. We walked around pretending to pray and Mrs Vinales took a picture of me.

Shelter Building
On Thursday, we took part in Shelter Building. We worked in our activity groups. Mine was Miss Kilgallon’s. We walked through the woods to a special site. Simon and Rachel told us what to do. Our group was building shelter for foxes. We all worked really hard. Our group, along with Mrs Hook’s group got the most points. We had a lot of fun!
