Key Stage 2 SATs
Key Stage 2 SATs are assessments set by the Department of Education for pupils aged 11 in Year 6. Level 4 is the expected level for this age group; Level 5 is higher than the expected level. Children sit the tests in mid-May and these are sent off for marking externally. The results are usually returned to school at, or just after, the end of the Summer Term. They are then forwarded to parents along with their child's summer term report. Parents are offered the opportunity to meet with Form Teachers at the end of the summer term to discuss their child's school report and all aspects of progress and achievement at the end of this, the next milestone of their child's education.
Farringtons is proud to be a wide-ability, non-selective school. As a result of this policy, our yeargroups naturally vary in ability. We therefore expect our Key Stage 2 results to reflect the abilities of the particular children concerned.

With our wide ability, non-selective intake, we are proud that in 2007 our least able pupils achieved a minimum of Level 3 and that our most able children achieved Level 5, and we congratulate them all.
Our Science results improved this year, with 96% of the children achieving Level 4 or above. During the coming academic year, setting for Mathematics will begin in Year 4. This will enable us to increase the challenges for our most able pupils, whilst emphasising carefully structured teaching and additional consolidation for those who find the subject less easy.
With a combination of continuous assessment, monitoring, and individual targets, we aim to ensure that every pupil achieves the highest possible level in every subject.
